Breeding stock

SPF-Selskabet offers DanBred breeding stock with high, declared health status.

All breeding stock is bred in the unique DanBred breeding programme, where breeding objectives are decided upon jointly by pig producers and slaughterhouse managers. A good balance is thus obtained between characteristics for meat quality and pig productivity. And this provides a sound basis for profitable operations.

The breeding programme is based on three breeds – Danish Landrace (LL), Danish Yorkshire (YY) and Duroc (DD). At least 2000 Landrace and Yorkshire sows, and 500-700 Duroc, are included in the programme.

In production herds, Landrace and Yorkshire are used as sow lines and Duroc as boar line.
